Introducing the next generation AURALiC VEGA G2. C.E.S in January brought the exciting announcement of the AURALiC VEGA G2. This ground up design, further builds on AURALiC’s reputation as pioneering digital innovators.
The VEGA G2 once again introduces a host of new technologies. Notable inclusions are a streaming module, and passive analogue pre amplifier. These 2 elements alone, should place the AURALiC VEGA G2 on anyone’s ‘must hear’ list as we are expecting the results to be quite stunning.
Technically, as you would expect, the G2 is able to decode all of today’s highest resolution music formats, including DSD512 and PCM up to 32bit/384K.
AURALiC takes a modular approach with the G2 line up. The ARIES G2 can be added as a dedicated streaming transport, whilst a dedicated external clock can also be added. For most, the VEGA is probably all the front end you may ever need, but for anyone seeking the very highest in playback quality, it’s undeniable that the upgrade path exists in a careful and methodical manner.
The AURALiC VEGA G2 has a dual low-noise linear power supply which greatly reduces the noise floor. The processor inside is also something we have not seen a great deal off. The G2 has a whopping Quad-Core processor with 1GB of DDR3 memory meaning that handling data conversion is not going to break a sweat.
It is fair to say that the designers at AURALiC have a near obsession to detail. The VEGA G2 features AURALiC ORFEO Class-A Output module, inspired by classic analog designs.
Where many digital products can fall down these days, is the control software. For us, the user interface HAS to be good, and reliable. We have been a fan of AURALiC’s Lightning DS app since its arrival. It has evolved, and has to be one of the best on the market now. The AURALiC VEGA G2 is a Roon endpoint, so form follows function.
